The glucose-sensor maker filled a post left open when Jake Leach became CEO, days after adding former Stryker finance chief Glenn Boehnlein to its board.

Key points

  • Dexcom said on September 14 that CFO Jereme Sylvain will also serve as chief operating officer, overseeing global operations and quality teams.
  • The COO post had been vacant since Jake Leach, the previous president and COO, became CEO at the start of 2026, according to MedTech Dive.
  • On September 10 Dexcom appointed Glenn Boehnlein, Stryker's CFO from 2016 to 2025, to its board of directors.

Dexcom has named Chief Financial Officer Jereme Sylvain its chief operating officer as well, giving him oversight of the glucose-sensor maker's global operations and quality teams while he keeps the finance role.

The company said in a September 14 release, distributed by Business Wire and read via FinancialContent, that the expanded role is meant to drive "greater alignment, speed, and accountability across the company as it executes on its vision for growth and commitment to operational excellence."

Filling the COO seat

Sylvain joined Dexcom in 2018 and has been executive vice president and CFO since 2021. The company said he had built its finance leadership team and guided its growth and margin expansion, and had shown "the ability to align and execute cross-functionally."

"His deep understanding of our business, operational discipline and customer focus make him the right leader for this expanded role," President and CEO Jake Leach said in the release. "I am confident that Jereme will help us scale more effectively as we advance our goal to empower millions more people to take control of health."

The promotion fills a vacancy created when Leach, who had been president and COO, replaced Kevin Sayer as CEO at the start of 2026, MedTech Dive reported. Sayer and Leach both held the COO job before becoming CEO, according to the publication: Sayer was named COO in 2013 and CEO in 2015, and Leach became COO in 2022.

MedTech Dive noted that Leach has prioritized expanding global access to the company's devices, and that Dexcom's international sales grew 19% in the second quarter, outpacing US revenue growth. At a Wells Fargo investor event the previous week, Sylvain said global markets are the next big opportunity for the company's 15-day glucose sensor, which was cleared in the US last year and approved in Canada in July, the publication reported.

New board member from Stryker

The promotion follows a board change announced four days earlier. Dexcom appointed Glenn Boehnlein to its board of directors effective September 10, according to a separate company release, distributed by Business Wire and read via FinancialContent. Boehnlein was vice president and chief financial officer of Stryker from 2016 to 2025 and then served as an adviser to Stryker's chief executive from 2025 to 2026.

"Earlier this summer, we launched a search for a new independent director with deep MedTech experience and a proven track record of global scale," Leach said in that release, adding that Boehnlein's perspective would be valuable "as we execute against our newly announced long-range plan."

Boehnlein also sits on the boards of Inogen, where he chairs the audit committee, Agilent Technologies and Sutter Health, the company said.
