Key points

  • Resmed said on June 1 that it had completed its acquisition of Noctrix Health, maker of the Nidra tonic motor activation therapy for restless legs syndrome.
  • MedTech Dive reported the takeover at $340 million and said Noctrix has an annual revenue run rate of about $24 million.
  • Resmed first disclosed the deal on its fiscal third-quarter earnings call on April 30, 2026, and plans to fold Noctrix's technology into its connected devices and digital health products.

Resmed has completed its acquisition of Noctrix Health, a maker of wearable therapy for restless legs syndrome (RLS), the San Diego company said in a release on June 1, distributed by GlobeNewswire and read via BioSpace. Noctrix is now a wholly owned subsidiary within the Resmed group.

The takeover is valued at $340 million, MedTech Dive reported. Resmed's release did not state a price. Resmed first disclosed the agreement on April 30, 2026, during its fiscal third-quarter earnings call.

A device for restless legs

Noctrix's product is the Nidra Tonic Motor Activation (TOMAC) Therapy. Resmed described it as an FDA De Novo classified, non-invasive, non-pharmacologic treatment designed to reduce symptoms of moderate-to-severe RLS and improve sleep quality in adults who have not found sufficient relief with drug therapy. The release cites the FDA De Novo classification request for the NTX100 Tonic Motor Activation System, DEN220059, from 2023.

The company called RLS the third most prevalent sleep disorder and said Noctrix has built a record that includes 10 peer-reviewed publications and inclusion in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine's clinical practice guidelines for treating the condition.

According to MedTech Dive, Noctrix published data in 2023 reporting a 45% response rate after four weeks of treatment, compared with 16% for a sham treatment, in a trial of patients whose symptoms medications had failed to control. The response rate on Nidra rose to 61% by the end of a four-week open-label extension, the publication said.

Why Resmed bought it

"Our acquisition of Noctrix Health marks an important step forward in advancing our 2030 strategy and expanding our clinical sleep health portfolio," said Mick Farrell, Resmed's chairman and CEO. Resmed said it plans to integrate Noctrix's technology into its portfolio of connected devices and digital health solutions.

Noctrix has an annual revenue run rate of about $24 million, MedTech Dive reported. On the April call, Farrell said most RLS prescriptions are written by sleep physicians, the same doctors who prescribe Resmed's CPAP, APAP and bilevel therapies, and that Nidra flows through the same home and durable medical equipment delivery channel Resmed uses for its sleep products, according to the publication.

Farrell also said Noctrix's revenue growth rate and gross margins are higher than Resmed's, and that because Nidra is early in its lifecycle, Resmed will need to invest in research and development, sales and marketing to support it, MedTech Dive reported.

"Joining Resmed will help us advance that mission, enabling us to expand access to TOMAC therapy and reach more patients with a clinically validated solution that can help meaningfully improve sleep and quality of life," said Shri Raghunathan, president and CEO of Noctrix Health.

Resmed did not give a financial outlook for the Noctrix business in its completion announcement.
