M&M International, a manufacturer of precision stainless steel tubing that mainly serves the medical device market, has acquired KC Tech, a fellow tubing maker and longtime partner, private equity owner Gainline Capital Partners announced on June 30. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Gainline said the acquisition will significantly expand M&M's manufacturing capabilities and broaden its product portfolio by adding KC Tech's complementary line of larger-diameter tubing. M&M produces 304, 316-grade and 17-7 stainless steel small-diameter tubing for medical devices and other high-precision applications.
Where the tubing goes
M&M said its tubing is used in drug delivery devices, in minimally invasive technology such as cardiac ablation systems and cardiovascular implants, and in orthopedic products, Medical Design & Outsourcing reported. The company was founded in 1993, is headquartered in Edison, New Jersey, and operates manufacturing facilities in South Korea. It established its South Korean stainless steel tubing plant in 2011 and expanded it in 2017, according to the publication.
KC Tech is based in South Korea. "KC Tech has been a family business for over twenty years, and joining M&M marks an exciting new chapter for all of us," said Terry Park, KC Tech's CEO.
"Having worked with the KC Tech team for over a decade, we are confident not only in the quality of their manufacturing processes, but also in the talent of their management and employees, who will become part of M&M," said Jeff Robertson, M&M's CEO.
An add-on under Gainline
Stamford, Connecticut-based Gainline, which invests in U.S. middle-market companies, acquired M&M in July 2024 and hired a U.S.-based management team that includes Robertson. Medical Design & Outsourcing reported that Robertson was previously president at Secant Group, which Edwards Lifesciences named a supplier of the year in 2023.
"Our plan from the outset was to drive both organic growth and pursue strategic add-ons to scale the business," said Rob Dellinger, a partner at Gainline. "The acquisition of KC Tech is an exciting next step in M&M's growth."
Gainline described KC Tech as a strategic partner that also focuses on the medical device market. Neither company disclosed revenue, headcount or the purchase price. Gainline did not say whether KC Tech's facilities will be combined with M&M's existing South Korean operations.
