Guardant Health has acquired MetaSight Diagnostics, an Israel-based developer of blood tests that use mass spectrometry, for $59.0 million in upfront cash plus up to $90.0 million in contingent payments tied to future commercial performance and regulatory approvals, the company disclosed with its fourth-quarter results on Thursday, February 19. The purchase closed in December 2025, according to Guardant's earnings release filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Guardant said the deal expands its technology with the potential to enhance testing performance across its portfolio.
What MetaSight does
MetaSight uses mass spectrometry multi-omics technology to find biomarkers associated with acute and chronic diseases in serum samples, MedTech Dive reported. Its two most advanced programs before the acquisition were tests for colorectal cancer and liver disease-associated fibrosis, and its pipeline includes myocardial infarction and diabetic kidney disease tests alongside tests for pancreatic and lung tumors, according to the publication. The company raised $8 million in 2024.
That approach differs from Guardant's own tests, including its Shield colorectal cancer screening blood test, which use next-generation sequencing. Asked on the earnings call how MetaSight's technology fits with that focus, co-chief executive AmirAli Talasaz declined to give details. "Let us make more progress, and we will talk about it at the right time," he said, according to MedTech Dive.

For 2025, revenue rose 33% to $982.0 million and the net loss narrowed to $416.3 million. Guardant ended the year with $1.3 billion in cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and marketable debt securities.
